The arson attack has indirectly financially benefited the company by a rise in profits for the year ending 2013, from £12.2m to £13.36m. An exceptional credit of £10m was recorded, which was the surplus from the insurance proceeds over and above the book value of the assets lost and the restructuring of the group's manufacturing. 102 employees were made redundant after the fire and the manufacturing was relocated to the company's other plants. The new Lattice Cut range of Crisps will feature all the usual British favourites. Managing director Jonathan Bye told The Grocer magazine, "We have a history of leading category initiatives. It's not the first Lattice Cut to be made but is currently the only one on the [British] market." The new range will be available from May,but the Sweet Chilli variety will only be available in Asda. |
