World Records: The Largest Packet of Crisps
When Ohio based Potato Chips company Ballreich's (you can read more about them HERE) thought how best to celebrate the 150th birthday of the World's favorite snack food, they teamed up with other local potato chip manufacturers to create the "World's Largest Bag of Potato Chips".
The record at that time used a massive 4,250 pounds of potatoes, 710 pounds hydrogenated soybean oil and 80 pounds of salt to make around 288,000 potato chips, which they crammed into one giant bag.
That record was broken in 2004, by Seabrook Potato Crisps of Bradford, England.
The largest packet of Crisps or Potato Chips weighed weighed in at a staggering 51.35 kg (113 lb 3 oz).
The packet measured 1.79m (5.87 ft) in height 1.21m (3.96 ft) in width and 0.62m (2.03 ft) in depth. The weight including the bag was 52kg (114 lb 10 oz).

To say, the World Record has taken on new dimensions would be an understatement.
Japanese company Calbee, held the record prior to the latest incredible achievement, but in September 2013, Corkers Crisps of Cambridgeshire, England set the new World Record. The bag pictured measures an incredible 5.5 metres in height and was sufficiently strong to hold over a tonne of Potato Crisps. The Guinness Book of Records declares that the Crisps have to be cooked in one batch. This took Corkers 20 hours to achieve. The previous record was 501 kilogrammes. Corkers' feat was a weight of a staggering 1,140 kilogrammes. |
World Records: Facebook 'Likes'
On April 11th, 2011, Frito-Lay set up a kitchen in New York’s Times Square to teach the people of the Big Apple how to cook Potato Chips and Crisps.
The show was screened for all to see and included in advertising features. They had also included Frito-Lay in the popular Facebook game “Farmville”.
Anyway, the outcome of this marketing exercise was an unbelievable 1,571,161 Facebook ‘Likes’ on the Frito-Lay Facebook page in a 24 hour period.
