You can view our version of the story on the top bar of these pages.
The "Saratoga Chip" was sold regionally, and distributed until the 1920's when then owner Herman Lay changed the "Saratoga Chip" name to Potato Chip, automated the manufacturing process and sold the product nationally. Market forces saw the Saratoga Chip fall off the market for 90 years, until Danny Jameson, an IT specialist, and Paul Tator, a contractor, discussed the opportunities of re-booting the brand. “We researched the original recipe and modeled ours after it. No one else in the world has what we have,” said Jameson. The completely natural chips are made with Yukon Jack potatoes, cotton-seed oil and sea salt. The partners keep their other trade secrets under wraps. Jameson and Tator devised the Saratoga Specialties Co., in January 2009 after seeing a replica of the original Moon Brand box at the Saratoga Springs History Museum. |
