Chipsy d'OrThis is our frankly, poor translation of a passage that appears in French on the Chipsy d'Or website...
Soconarjiss was founded in 1993 in Fes, Morocco precisely in Fes, by two brothers; Hachimi. It was created as a side business inherited from their father, who had previously produced and marketed of Crisps, Snacks and dried fruits. Today, Soconarjiss is a developing company that is selling products under its own branding. The latest of these innovations is the Chipsy d'Or Potato Chips range. They say, "Potatoes are selected with the utmost care, washed, cut and processed with the latest equipment. "The frying is done in a natural vegetable oil, having undergone no treatment or addition, avoiding all side effects for our health. "Several flavors come later to give a better taste to our Chipsy d'Or Chips, such as Spicy Cheese, Kabab, Paprika Chili, Salt and Ketchup. |
Chipsy D’Or Paprika Chili Flavour Chips
I have long considered paprika a rather odd flavouring for potato chips and crisps. Paprika is a flavour enhancer and unless the full-on Hungarian strong stuff, it is invariably too mild to influence the flavouring. These chips were no different. They tasted like plain chips, which made them better than the Chipsy D’Or salt flavour, but that was about it. (5) |
Chipsy D’Or Sel Flavour Chips
A Nose Plunge Test revealed a mild salty aroma, but this belied the taste. These were seriously salty chips. There was an almost plasticky flavour to the backdrop. The notion of balance was seriously neglected. (5) |
Chipsy D’Or Fromage Epice Flavour Chips
Spicy cheese sounds like an exciting flavour. Sadly, the description did not do these chips a particular service. These were full-on smelly feet cheese. In fact, given how salty the salt flavoured chips were and how cheesy these were, I see a niche for a unique and exaggerated flavour. (5) |
Chipsy D’Or Kabab Flavour Chips
There was a slightly paprika and even meaty tinge to these chips. It said on the reverse of the packet that it included “arome kabab” and that would probably be a fair description. There was a hint of meatiness, but nothing particularly identifiable. (7) |
