"We originally introduced our Thanksgiving-flavored chip line a few years ago as a fun way to celebrate the biggest, tastiest meal of the year, but it has taken a life of its own," said Steve Sklar, senior vice president and general manager for BoulderCanyon. "While there are many pumpkin and holiday-flavored snacks on the market, we set ourselves apart by offering a tastier version of your grandma's favorite recipes. And, these take a lot less preparation than the traditional family bird."
Turkey & Gravy and Pumpkin Pie Kettle-cooked potato chips from Boulder Canyon will be again available at select grocers in the USA, during this fall.

"While there are many pumpkin and holiday-flavored snacks on the market, we set ourselves apart by offering a tastier version of your grandma's favorite recipes. And, these take a lot less preparation than the traditional family bird." Pictures often speak louder than words, so apart from this quote, we'll leave you with one of the finest marketing initiatives in Chips and Crisps history.
Pringles senior director of marketing Kurt Simon said: “Pringles are known for bold flavours and endless flavour stacking possibilities, so this holiday season we wanted to introduce snack-lovers to a new way to enjoy Thanksgiving favourites.” “The Pringles Thanksgiving Dinner flavours are not only new but cover every course of the real meal – from the main event, to sides and even dessert.” This may sound fanciful, but when you hear scientists talk it all of a sudden becomes a little more believable. While they were cataloging a range of native grass species, researchers in Australia made a rather bizarre discovery. During the study of native grass species in the lab, University of Western Australia research scientist Matthew Barrett and PhD student Ben Andersonit noticed it tasted exactly like the flavouring found on salt and vinegar chips. “We were doing late night experiments… handling specimens of that species,” Dr Barrett told the ABC, “Someone licked their hand at some point and tasted that flavour.” The grass was spinifex (Triodia species) — a tough, spiky tussock grass that dominates much of the red sand desert and rocky ranges of Central Australia that is known for its ability to resist even the harshest of droughts. Dr Barrett explained that the salt and vinegar taste comes from tiny droplets of liquid found on younger grass stems. Pulled Pork often features a sticky sauce, so Honey is perhaps a natural partner.
However, Gin & Juniper is slightly misleading because Gin is made from Juniper Berries. So, this weird and wonderful sounding flavour is perhaps a little more traditional than you may at first, think. Pork and Juniper sounds not too dissimilar to Turkey and Cranberry, so we look forward to trying them out and letting you our findings. |
