Facts & Figures
USA - Best Selling Potato Chips
The Top Ten are all major brands. Many of which are owned by Pepsico under their FritoLay brand. With the number one brand selling over a billion dollars worth of Potato Chips a year, not to mention the second and third on the list, it would probably be safe to say Frito-Lay owns more than three quarters of the American market share.
All the private or smaller brands combined sell less than $400mn worth of product per year, which would put their combined total around fourth.
Total sales of Potato Chips in America = more than $9bn.
UK – Best Selling Potato Crisps
The third best-selling brand of any product in the UK is Walkers Crisps, which is also owned by Pepsico. Walkers sell around three times as many Crisps as any other manufacturer.
Supermarket own-label Crisps virtually match Walkers sales and the combined totals of smaller brands are not far behind, but it is clear that the major supermarket chains are key to market success.
Total sales of Potato Crisps in the UK = more than £3bn.
