"The Cornish Crisp Company is making the first truly Cornish crisp - made in Cornwall using Cornish potatoes all year round. "The Cornish Crisp Company has been a dream for many years and it began to become a reality during the summer of 2008 when a crisp manufacturing factory in Dorset came up for sale. The factory was eventually dismantled and brought to Cornwall in Spring 2009. "One of the aims of the company is to add value to Cornwall's potato crop and we also employ local people and try to benefit local organisations. "All businesses have an impact on the environment and we are striving to reduce ours by recycling as much as we can, sourcing locally wherever we can and cutting down on our energy usage. "The potatoes are not peeled and so our main waste product will be our used sunflower oil, which we will use to produce bio-diesel and power our vehicles. Our crisps are made with 'taters' grown in Cornwall. That way they have less miles to travel and our local farmers have the benefit of a guaranteed market for their lovely crops. "The best crisps have been researched thoroughly and they are made in small batches using 100% fresh sunflower oil and so that is just what we do." In early 2016, Warrens Bakery's trading arm, known as 'Simply Cornish' relaunched The Cornish Crisp Company as The Great British Crisp Company, presumably in an effort to make the company sound a little less parochial and appeal to a wider distribution audience. |
