The new Salted Caramel flavour is being launched in sharing and impulse packs and capitalises on the popular “sweet and savoury” trend, but with 30% less saturated fat than typical Salted Caramel popcorn available on the market.
Metcalfe’s skinny have revealed that their first new seasoning launch for 2017 will be Salted Caramel, available from the end of May. Also, the updated packaging design, which was introduced at the end of last year on Metcalfe’s skinny popcorn, will be rolled out across the extended Metcalfe’s range of popcorn crisps, popcorn thins and rice-cakes.
The new Salted Caramel flavour is being launched in sharing and impulse packs and capitalises on the popular “sweet and savoury” trend, but with 30% less saturated fat than typical Salted Caramel popcorn available on the market. Mackie’s at Taypack are bringing something slightly unusual to the Chinese market in the form of sweet crisps - their two newest products will be Strawberry and Salted Caramel flavoured potato crisps. Those with a sweet tooth will be disappointed to hear that these more adventurous flavours of crisp will be sold exclusively in China, with no plans to be brought to the United Kingdom market just yet. They are launching at the SIAL China Trade Show this week, which is the 4th biggest food show in the world and will see around 80,000 visitors over the 3 days. The flavours came about as a request from their Chinese agent who noticed a gap in the market and a demand from the Chinese consumer for a sweet flavoured potato crisp. Although Mackie’s Crisps currently export to around 23 countries worldwide, China is their largest export market with an average of 4 containers of their crisps being shipped to Shanghai every month. Each container can hold up to 50,688 bags of crisps! These brand-new flavours come on the back of lots of exciting export development for Mackie’s at Taypack, for which they have received lots of recognition – they were shortlisted for Small Exporter of the Year at the HSBC Scottish Export Awards this year, and have got their fingers crossed for the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards this week where they are up for Export Business of the Year. James Taylor, Commercial Director for Mackie’s at Taypack, commented on the exciting new flavours saying: “We are thrilled to be able to bring something so innovative to the Chinese crisp scene, as a key export market for us we are constantly investing in it and are hopeful that this bold move will pay off”. Kettle® will be introducing a new limited edition, which was voted top in an online consumer poll, to its range of hand cooked, sharing chips just in time for summer. Launching in early May, and replacing the winter seasonal of Baked Camembert & Oak Smoked Garlic, Goats’ Cheese & Balsamic Onion will be available throughout the summer months and makes the perfect crunchy companion to any picnic or BBQ. The new flavour was the brainchild of the Kettle® Chef, Phil Hovey, who was tasked with creating a seasoning which captures the spirit of summer food. Phil chose this winning combination of rich and creamy goats’ cheese enhanced by the sweet tanginess of balsamic pickled onions. It’s simple, delicious and packed full of flavour! Andrew Slamin, Marketing Director at Kettle Foods comments: “The Seasonal Editions play a key role in delivering flavour innovation in the category and generating consumer excitement. Goats’ Cheese & Balsamic Onion will give a seasonal boost to our strong core range and offers retailers something new for their customers. As the leading premium crisp and a top 3 sharing brand 1, Kettle® can help capitalise on consumer trends towards better quality snacking options and the continuing popularity of entertaining at home.” |
