Simba Mrs H. Ball’s Chutney Potato Chips
There was a very strong smell of a familiar sauce. It was reminiscent of Worcester sauce, but slightly sweeter. The narrow-ridged chips were well coated with a flavouring that I could only describe as Worcester sauce mixed with a sweet and spicy chutney pickle. As this is a peculiarly South African flavour, I would say this pretty much nailed the description. After trying them I took a peek at the ingredients list on the reverse of the pack. I wish I hadn’t, apart from some familiar ingredients like garlic powder and onion (and surprisingly, caramel), there was a litany of flavour enhancers and chemical wizardry.
