1 Keep Potato Chips fresh longer by storing them in the freezer – make sure they are unopened.
2 A Potato Chip's nemesis is sunlight. Oxygen is less offensive to a Chip’s freshness. Do not, therefore, keep Potato Chips in clear containers or plastic bags.
3 Keep opened bags of Chips fresh - If opened and a Chips Bag Clip is not at your disposal, a clothes peg will suffice.
4 To store homemade Potato Chips, you should put them in a bowl with a cloth placed over the top. They should last six hours.
5 For longer storage of home-made Chips, an airtight container should keep them fresh for over a week.
6 The Grease Test: Place a handful of Potato Chips on a piece of thin gsm paper. Cover the Chips with wax paper and crush into fine pieces. Leave for one minute. Discard the Chips. You can compare this with similar experiments with other Chips. If measured against the grease content etc. on the bag, you will soon learn which Chips you will continue to eat.
7 A rule of thumb; the stronger the flavors the more flavored coating, which invariably mean higher sugar content. Ridged Chips have a larger area and therefore, often more fat.
8 The lowest fat Chips do not necessarily have the least sugar or salt content.
