Lant Chips

Since the start, in 1992, we have been a family-run company with a somewhat unique story. We’re glad to share it, as we ha’ve spoken with so many who wonder how and why we started a business in the middle of Sweden’s recession of 1991-92. We also understand that there are many people thinking of starting a business and in turn become independent through realizing an idea of their own.
For us the driving force was our son, born with multiple disabilities. My wife and I were both in the middle of our different careers at the time, but the task of taking care of our son simply did not allow us to continue working in our current positions. We reasoned that our own company could be the solution, since we could, in such an endeavour, choose our own hours.
That we ended up producing a foods product, more specifically potato chips, was actually a mere coincidence. During a trip to North America, I met a small company who produced home-made potato chips on a small scale. I immediately became fond of this simple, genuine and tasty snack, with roots back to 1860. We therefore ventured to see if we could start our own small production unit home in Sweden.
From the start, we had three purposes with our LantChips project: Try and earn our living in a way that allowed us to also give our children the time and attention they needed.
Give our children an understanding and practical experience of earnest hard work. To be able to share our profits, moneywise and through other resources, working with ideal organizations supporting children in dire circumstances.
We are still faithful to these three principles. They have helped us endure tough times, as well as given us many days when it feels great to be an entrepreneur. We hope that you like our products and that you now have a better understanding of why we exist. Thank you for your support!
