Jones o GymruJones o Gymru claims to be the Welsh choice for crisps, and who are we to argue. There are only two specifically Welsh Crisps companies and one of those is Scottish owned.
Made with 100% Welsh grown potatoes each crisp is hand cooked in high oleic sunflower oil. The Jones o Gymru motto to produce excellent old fashioned crisps with a proper thick crunch and punchy flavours. They also claim to have a special ingredient - Welsh weather. The say, "The beautiful Welsh coastline and mountains has given us fertile soils and plenty of rain. The winters are mild and summers cool and moist, ideal for growing world class tip-top ‘tatws.’ (Tatws = Potatoes.) Jones Crisps was launched in 2011, and their range now includes four flavours: Sea Salt and Sea Salt & Vinegar which both use the famous Halen Môn 'Protected Designation of Origin' Anglesey Sea Salt which is harvested off the coast of Anglesey. The Mature Cheese & Onion flavour was inspired by Welsh dairy heritage and the farmhouse cheeses made with milk produced from the lush Welsh green valleys and rolling hills. In 2014, Jones launched its fourth flavour, “Y Ddraig Goch Sweet Chili.” Y Ddraig Goch means The Red Dragon. Jones Crisps also add this interesting point, "The true spirit of Wales is capture in the place and its people and that’s why we celebrate the life of Dr Tom Parry Jones (1935-2013) on the Sweet Chili bags. A scientist, innovator, entrepreneur, aviator and humanitarian, Dr Tom Parry Jones was best known as the inventor of the electronic breathalyser that has saved countless lives worldwide." |
