Former Seabrook Crisps factory fire adds to the list of similar tragedies

Fifty fire-fighers were involved in tackling a blaze at a former crisp factory in Bradford.
A blaze was spotted at the former Seabrooks potato crisp factory in Allerton Road, Allerton, at around 9.45pm, with the third floor and roof of the three-storey building engulfed by fire.
Six fire tenders and two aerial units were involved in the fire-fighting operation, involving a total of around 50 crew members. Fire-fighters used three jets and a ground monitor to bring the flames under control.

Walkers Crisps factory fire hits production in Beaumont Leys

Firefighters have tackled a fire at the Walkers Snack Foods plant in Leicester.
Crews were called to the factory in Bursom Road, Beaumont Leys, just after 7pm yesterday.
The blaze involved a “quantity of residue oil behind machinery”, according to the fire service.
A spokesman said: “We had a bit of difficulty moving the machinery to get to the fire but did so with the help of maintenance staff at the factory.
“Cooling jets were used to prevent the fire spreading and workers were moved to another area of the plant for their safety.”
After putting the fire out, firefighters stayed on the scene until 9.22pm to ensure it was safe.

$6.6bn deal will see Hillshire Brands Co. purchase Pinnacle Foods Inc.

Hillshire, which Hillshire Farm cold cuts, Jimmy Dean sausages and hot dogs under the Ball Park franks label, is set to purchase Pinnacle Foods in a staggering deal worth nearly $7bn.
Pinnacle is of course home to a variety of food brands including Chips companies; Snyder of Berlin, Hawaiian Chips, Tim' Cascade Chips and Husman's.
The deal is set to go through in September. We will keep you posted...

Old Dutch re-brand sees launch of Double Dutch range of Chips

Old Dutch Foods initially called them Ripples, but an early re-branding has seen the launch of their new "Double Dutch Thick Ripple Appetizers" Potato Chips.
The word "appetizer" relates directly to the range profiles: Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders, Buffalo Wing and Blue Cheese Dip, Calamari & Tzatziki Sauce, and Burstin' Onion. Old Dutch Foods Brand manager Alice Daszkowski, said, "Our chip experts saw a thicker ripple cut chip delivering double the crunch, a key attribute of Double Dutch Thick Ripple Appetizers Potato Chips.
"We are continuing to watch exciting new Canadian food trends to draw inspiration for our next Double Dutch flavours. Currently the best seller nationally is the Bacon Cheeseburger Slider flavour. We look forward to seeing how the line will grow in the future."
