The Strange Case of the Missing Sainsbury's Flavour
Having reviewed around a thousand different brands, varieties and flavours of Potato Chips and Crisps it is perhaps understandable that we have discovered the great, the good, and the downright awful.
However, never before have we come across a flavour without the flavour! The Sainsbury's Taste The Difference range features a little more effort and application than the run of the mill standard low priced, low quality shelf fillers. Having said that, we still purchased the Smoky BBQ Flavour with little expectation - British Barbecue varieties rarely register in taste tests in comparison to US versions. But we were not prepared for no flavour at all! |
So shocked we were at the missing flavour, and concerned that potential buyers would consider a brand of Crisps unfairly, we decided to send the letter below to Sainsbury's.
We expected a fairly standard reply from Sainsbury's, if a reply were to arrive at all.
A reply did indeed come back and we were excited that an investigation would be carried out. |
Sadly, the results of the investigation were as our cynical expectations had us expect.
Sainsbury's generously sent back an £8 gift card (The Crisps were £2 and the postage for sending the packet to Sainsbury's was £3.20), so that was nice of them. It is up to discerning readers whether they believe the claim that an investigation was carried out. We will also leave it to the same discerning readers to believe whether ours was the only packet, among hundreds running through the machinery at the same time, that missed out on the addition of seasoning powders. |
