Bjare Chips

Peter Ekelund  is a Swedish entrepreneur and the driving force behind the international launch of Absolut vodka, and since 2006, has been a partner in the New York based private equity firm Baker Capital.
Ekelund was at a 2001 meeting with some of the regional potato farmers, where there was a discussion about the way forward, after the worst harvest in living memory. The conclusion was what today is - Bjäre homestead. Ekelund is the company chairman.
Torekovs lilla chipsfabrik (Torekovs Little Chips Factory), is a small cooperative of around forty farmers that manufacture Potato Chips under the name Bjäre chips. The cooperative is also known as Bjäre Hembygd (Bjare Homestead) for the purpose of production of other products.
Quality became the watchword, and Bjäre Hembygd’s new potatoes were considered outstanding spuds. Blender Börje Karlsson came up with the recipe for Karlsson GOLD Vodka, which has proven a big hit, including in the USA.
The Torekows Little Chip Factory has been producing its Potato Chips since 2012. The Chips are cooked using traditional Kettle Cooking methods. The skin is left on and after washing, they are fried in Canola Oil.
