Pringles promotion offers flights to Europe for consumers

Pringles is launching an on-pack promotion offering flights to Europe, including hundreds of destinations.
Running with the strapline ‘Take a bite and win a flight’, the campaign will run on the entire Pringles range and can be promoted in stores by PoS.
Simon Smith, Kellogg's impulse sales lead, said: “We have a range of PoS and plenty of tips to help retailers sell the promotional cans in store, all available on our trade website."

McCoy’s re-launch its ‘Win Gold’ campaign for 2018

The promotion is running across McCoy’s 89p grab bags in Flame Grilled Steak, Salt & Malt Vinegar, Cheddar & Onion, Hot Mexican Chilli, Sizzling King Prawn, Thai Sweet Chicken, and Paprika flavours.

A £1.5m “When Flavour Calls” TV campaign is running alongside the promotion.

Jeff Swan, marketing director at brand owner KP Snacks, said: “With McCoy’s experiencing phenomenal growth in 2017 and the brand now worth £120m, we are pleased to be repeating such a popular promotion to help retailers drive sales on our most popular SKUs.”

Britain’s Crisps and extruded snack-lovers are facing an increase in prices for supermarket staples from the world's biggest manufacturers.
One such example is Hula Hoops, according to a new report. The latest research shows that bags of several popular best-known snack foods have been increased by between 5p and 10p in High Street supermarkets.
Brand owner KP Snacks told trade magazine The Grocer that “inflationary pressures “ had caused it to pass on rising costs.
This may not sound like good news, but for so long these international multinatinals have squeezed smaller manufacturers out of the main markets. Supermarkets will be forced by their own profitability to search out lower priced alternatives.
This can only possibly be good news for smaller and locally produced Crisps makers.
So, bad news today, but brilliant news in the long run, as anything that undermines the monopoly of these standard and often far inferior (see our review pages for hundreds of examples), products, can ony possibly be a good thing for British consumers.

PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi makes startlingly inappropriate business proposal

A bit of background first... Indra Nooyi grew up and was educated in India. She played in a rock band and played cricket.
In 1980, she went to the US and got a second master’s degree at the Yale School of Management.
She worked for several years in management consulting, then in corporate strategy, and joined PepsiCo in 1994, as chief strategist.
In 2006, she was promoted to CEO, overseeing over a quarter of a million worldwide employees and snacks that include; Frito-Lay, Doritos and Walkers, not to mention Quaker Foods, Tropicana and of course, Pepsi Cola.
In an interview with Freakonomics she said, "When you eat out of a flex bag — one of our single-serve bags — especially as you watch a lot of the young guys eat the chips, they love their Doritos, and they lick their fingers with great glee, and when they reach the bottom of the bag they pour the little broken pieces into their mouth, because they don’t want to lose that taste of the flavor, and the broken chips in the bottom. Women would love to do the same, but they don’t. They don’t like to crunch too loudly in public. And they don’t lick their fingers generously and they don’t like to pour the little broken pieces and the flavor into their mouth.
"It’s not a male and female as much as “are there snacks for women that can be designed and packaged differently?” And yes, we are looking at it, and we’re getting ready to launch a bunch of them soon. For women, low-crunch, the full taste profile, not have so much of the flavor stick on the fingers, and how can you put it in a purse? Because women love to carry a snack in their purse. The whole design capability we built in PepsiCo was to allow design to work with innovation. Not just on packaging colors, but to go through the entire cycle, and say, “All the way to the product in the pantry, or how it’s being carried around, or how they eat it in the car, or drink it in the car, what should be the design of the product, the package, the experience, so that we can influence the entire chain?”
So, feeble women, all herald the generous offer of one of the world's biggest money making machines telling you that you need special care.
Perhaps Ms Nooyi needs to consider what decade this is.

Fairfields Farm confirm purchase of Ten Acre snacks

Fairfields Farm have been farming potatoes in East Anglia for three generations with their crisping potatoes hand-cooked on the farm.
Robert Strathern, founder of Fairfields Farm, said: “This is an exciting step for us. Ten Acre has the same values as Fairfields, so we felt they were a good fit. Additionally, their experience and rapid growth in export, opens up opportunities for us and joining forces means taking the best attributes of both brands and growing the Ten Acre and Fairfields brand together, for continued success.”
Ten Acre first appeared in the UK snacking scene in 2015 with innovative ‘Free From Plus’ crisps and popcorn. Their crisp and popcorn products are gluten, dairy, GMO and MSG free, as well as Vegan Society and Vegetarian Society Approved.
Tony Goodman, co-founder and chief eating officer of Ten Acre says; “We have a synergy with Fairfields Farm; both believing in great taste and premium quality.

Doritos take advantage of Canada's love of Ketchup Chips with Capsule Collection

Canadians' unbridled love for ketchup-flavored chips is now the inspiration behind a new capsule collection from Doritos. While America is arguably the snack food capital of the world, you’ll be hard-pressed to find Ketchup Chips in the States. They’re considered a near delicacy up north though, where Canadians are famous for crunching on them as far back as the 1970s. That’s when the now nearly defunct Canadian Hostess Potato Chip brand (currently owned by PepsiCo Canada) first introduced them following a failed line of other “fruit-flavored” potato chips. In recent years, PepsiCo has brought the flavor back through several of its big brands, including a limited-time Doritos release in 2015.
