Despite being one of the most tempting inventions to date, you just never see a fashion editor or model munching on a pack of prawn cocktail backstage. Haribo sweets? Yes. They’re colourful and cute. But crisps? Non.
So it is no small miracle that Anya Hindmarch has created this season’s most-wanted bag out of an old packet of Walker’s salt and vinegar crisps. Fashion editors have been lining up to shoot the Crisp Packet clutch, many of them “accidentally on purpose” keeping hold of it to wear to industry events, such is the cache of this bag.
The waiting list ahead of the first delivery was so long that by the time the clutch arrived, it sold out in three hours. Stock was replenished but several colours still remain sold out. The next drop, expected mid-March, already has a waiting list.
