Weightwatchers CrispsWeight Watchers is an international American company that markets products and programmes to aid weight loss. It was founded in Jean Nidetch in 1963. It operates in around thirty countries.
The Weight Watchers mantra, ‘lose weight by forming helpful habits, eating smarter, getting more exercise’ is an effective and highly successful and lucrative one for the company. Unlike other diet packages that often have a list of can eat and can’t eat foods, Weight Watchers provide a points system to all foods. The ‘Weight Watcher’ can then eat whatever he or she likes, while attempting to keep it within the allocated points, which are calculated based on age and weight. From 1978 to 1999, Weight Watchers was owned by the H. J. Heinz Company, which still produces packaged foods with the Weight Watchers branding and points calculations. Weight Watchers was acquired in a leveraged buyout in 1999 by Artal Luxembourg and went public in 2001. Artal continues to own over 50% of the shares of Weight Watchers as of 2010. Our interest in Weight Watchers however, are the Crisps and related products. About which you will be able to read more on the review pages. |
