Bag
We are often fairly critical of Walkers designs at Chips & Crisps, but not in this case. The Deep Ridged range tick all the boxes. The black background allows the imagery to pop. The Deep Ridged wording is large, dominant, commanding and is boldly flavour colour coded. The image of the Ridged Crisp on a backdrop of a mountainous landscape also provides a masculine look and feel. Even the logo is a less is more size, which is rare for Walkers.

Crunch
These were thickly cut Crisps, which usually means the munch will be slightly firm and although not particularly crispy, provide a regulated crackling crunch throughout. Some might prefer a more brittle crunch, but the sustainability of these Crisps crunch lifespan certainly overwhelms any negativity.
Texture
Undoubtedly the deepest Ridged Crisps we have thus far come across at Chips & Crisps. The marcelled cuts were approximately 5mm deep and triangular in their separations. There were no oil boils. The colour was a plain lightish yellow. There was some skin on edges. There was no seasoning visible.

Taste
A Nose Plunge Test provided a robust and convincing salty Vinegar aroma. The hope was that this would be continued through the eating process. The flavour was a little heavier on the Vinegar, which was undoubtedly of the Malt variety. There was a notion of Salt but it was not as generous as the more dominant partner.
