An obvious attempt at capturing a patriotic audience, Taylors include a clear statement, “Welsh Potato Crisps”, a Welsh flag and a dragon on their otherwise plain packaging. The flavours are colour coded but that is all
.
Crunch
These were not quite as meaty as some varieties of Taylors Crisps. This meant they were crispier and snappier than many thickly cut Crisps and certainly comparable with the better end of Regular Crisps
Texture
These were thick and rigid looking Crisps, with plenty of seasoning visible, and very few oil blisters
.
Taste
There was a spicy aroma but not necessarily Chilli. Some Chilli flavoured Crisps claim heat and fore but rarely deliver the goods. Then you have those that add the word ‘Sweet’ in front of Chilli, which although a nice Thai sauce, and indeed an enjoyable Crisp, compromises on the best aspect of the flavouring. Not these – they hit the mark and even ventured slightly over the line of so spicy they could be too hot for some. And bloody good job too! We have said it several times in Chips and Crisps reviews, but if you include the word ‘Chilli’ make them blooming hot and spicy
