Verdict

Flavor color coded bags - Check. Small logo – Check. Larger flavor description – Check. The bagel line drawing does not really do the job but they would look different if they had to compete on shelves for eye-catchiness. As an in-store brand they do not however have to do that, so the design is fine in what it is attempting to achieve

Crunch

Shards and jagged broken edges with every bite. They were hard and rigid and a little too firm, but still the essence of Kettle Cooked Chips

Texture

These Chips were particularly curled and gnarly. Some were sufficiently oil hardened that they were transparent in areas. There were different sized oil blisters and some brown patches from aged potatoes

Taste

The first thing I should say is that we could not specify a manufacturer as they were purchased in Japan and merely said “Made in USA”. I do not know whether it relates by a question was posed by these Chips – how can you get Plain Chips wrong? Well, there was not enough Salt and they were overwhelmed by oil
