Judging by some of the latest designs from smaller companies, it appears that Lay's are allowed to design for the whole Chips & Crisps industry. As seen with so many, there is a large logo, a photographic image of a few Chips, the style of cut in big letters, plus the flavoring or seasoning - In this case, a potato. The advantage Lay's have over their rivals is of course the most recognisable brand on the market. Even their overseas companies have the same logo, but with their brand name on the red banner. Lay's could actually have a plain, flavor color coded bag with the name of the flavor and their logo, and sell no fewer bags of Chips. However, this is far from innovative packaging. It is actually as basic as it can be while still remaining modern and evocative. Fortunately, not all smaller companies take Lay's lead. It is therefore to them, that we have to look for exciting and interesting bag designs.

Crunch
These wide and dip friendly Chips were thickly cut. The bag also contained a lot of large and whole Chips. This brought on the urge to do a Snap Test. The Chip won - it creaked and then cracked straight in half. Although there was a sort of dull sound, which was similar to the crunch. There was no snappy bite, but instead a firm rigid crunch.
Texture
The Ridged nature of these 'Wavy' Chips made them feel firmer to the touch and less oil bubbled than standard Chips. There was some clear seasoning on the Chips, but its purpose seemed to be to disrupt the surface from smoothness. Most Chips were whole and shaped for dipping.

Taste
Well, at least the bag doesn't lie. What is inside are potato flavored Chips, but cut into Wavy slices. Regular readers of Chips & Crisps reviews will know that we don't really care for plain Chips. Our flavor craving nature always leaves us hoping that the World's Favorite Snack Food, is as good as it promises. Should a Chip really need a sandwich to give it purpose? Or in this case, a thick Rippled cut to promote its dipping properties (you wouldn't dip them in creamy potato though). Anyway, rambling over, these Chips taste of potato.
