This is a very good bag design, and perfect for color referencing against different varieties in the same range. So, if all the Ripple Chips had flavor coordinated colors, it would work really well. Herr's don't do this - they seem to prefer to design a different bag for every variety and flavor. If you want to spot a particular brand on a supermarket shelf, this makes picking Herr's out difficult. Is a consumer really bothered about hunting around for particular company logos?
The Wavy nature of these Ridged Chips ensure an additional thickness on top of Herr's natural thickness. The majority of the Chips were intact so this enabled a more consistent crunch throughout the bag than some offer. A firm crunch was maintained.
These are nicely curved, suitable for dipping Chips. The Ridges are wide and even. The edges are intact, without the broken edges of a thinner Chip. The seasoning covered the Chips well, although looked a little darker than we would imagine a sour cream incorporated powder might.
The Nose Plunge test revealed a slightly cheesy aroma. Not a big mature Cheddar hit, but a somewhat mild and tasty smell that was fairly well matched by the taste. The sour cream is evident as it pairs with a balanced but slightly sweet Cheese flavor.
