Verdict

Bag

Cape Cod have managed to overcome our cardinal sin of Chips bag designs - the company branding and logo are far too large. However, in this individual case the brand is considered so strong it is a necessity. The lighthouse alone evokes an almost mystical image. As for this superb bag - white for Original. Perfect. Note: That is what we write for the Original flavor, because it is the same packaging except for the green box explaining that it it 40% Less Fat. In our humble opinion this would have looked better and been more noticeable on shelves, while differentiating it from the Original bag, if the top brush stroke was changed into a different color.

Crunch

The crunch was slightly inferior to the Originals. But no so that it affected your enjoyment of a healthier Chip, which is what we were telling ourselves as handfuls were consumed.

Texture

These were a little different to the regular Originals in the Cape Cod range. These were a little less oily, had a more dry feel, and while the Kettle Cooked bubbles remained, the surface of the Chips seemed almost dry, if you could imagine such a thing.

Taste

An almost totally potato aroma hit us when the bag was opened. They were warm tasting potatoes with a comfortable plain, not too salty, but a bit over oily flavor. A bit bland for our taste-buds but it made for good sandwich company. Again, this is the the same write up as you will find on our Original Review page. The difference here is, the taste was slightly different, but not so much that you would notice. We would therefore recommend that you pick this pack every time over the full fat version. Not least because careful reading of the less fat info reveals that the comparison is with regular Chips, not Cape Cod's own!
