Cheddar Cheese and Onion
Sweet Red Chili
Not sure which one to go for? The Cheddar Cheese and Onion is a prize-winning flavour from the Guild of Fine Foods! Supporting independent outlets, you can find SLABS Crisps at local farm shops, delis and premium retailers with an eye for good food.
SLABS crisps owner Beege Bourne-Robinson says; “Our SLABS crisps are truly unique. We wanted to create something special for crisp lovers, a new artisan, craft crisp with real bite and taste like no other. You’ll notice our packs include a window and that’s because we’re proud of our big, bad crisps. We also like to show off that SLABS don’t break like the average crisp so you won’t find the same smashed crumbs at the bottom of the pack.”
Try a pack, you won’t go back!
Slabs Salt & Malt Vinegar Crisps Review
A Nose Plunge Test revealed a mild malt vinegar bouquet. This was echoed in the flavour but in the extreme - They were particularly vinegary in flavour. There did not appear to be a balance of salt, but towards the end of each crisp's short life, there was a residual salty flavouring.
Slabs Mature Cheddar & Onion Crisps
The thicker the crisps, the more there is to infuse with a full load of seasoning. These crisps, perhaps understandably, featured a very strong flavour. The balance worked well, but as I neared the end of the bag there was an overwhelming onion taste. Very impressive stuff, but also very much a case of less is more.
Slabs Slightly Sea Salted Crisps
It is important to remember that the flavour written on the bag says, “Sprinkled with Sea Salt.” If rated purely against sea salt flavour crisps these would fall short. However, the flavour description was spot on. They were potatoey and slightly salty. The only criticism would be that for this flavour to work flawlessly the potatoes need to be desperately tasty and of the appropriate variety. Crisps often accompany sandwiches to make a good lunch. I would say these were impressive enough to be the lunch, which you could add a sandwich to if you wanted.
Slabs Mellow Sweet Chilli Crisps
A Nose Plunge Test revealed a mild chilli sauce aroma. The flavour is based on the popular Thai sauces of this nature but there was an overwhelming potato backdrop to these. Neither were they particularly sweet. However, while they were not fully comparable to sweet chilli sauce, there was a mild chilli flavouring and a hint of Oriental spices.
