Okay, first things first – these Chips came with Chopsticks. We cannot say whether all packs do, but the ones we were able to try had branded Chopsticks. I cannot say that often enough... Chopsticks! The bags were flavour colour coded. There was a neat Japanese style symmetry to the design, with perfect looking Chips lined up in a militaristic fashion, with the logo centrally aligned above them. The bags were also those modern-but-retro flat bottomed, but open sharing clasped at the top style bags. But Chopsticks, come on, that’s what you call putting effort in.
These mulched and then mushed up like many of the traditional Chips everyone will have tried. Nothing much to the Crunch at all really.
These were thinly cut Regular Chips that were thoroughly traditional in their look and feel. They lacked a touch of character, but the plain pale yellow colouring can be put down to the salty flavouring. There were minimal oil blisters and not many bends and curls in the pack.
The flavour was ‘Fragrant Matsutake Mushroom’ and they did indeed taste of Salty Mushroom. It’s a little difficult to suggest they tasted like Matsutake Mushroom, this would take a real Mushroom connoisseur to own up to, but they were definitely mushroomy (sic) to us. A bit overly Salty, but fairly respectful of the the flavour description.
