Bag
North Fork have gone against the grain with their packaging. Rather than taking the 'If you can't beat them..." route, they have developed an original concept, for which they should be greatly praised. The silver bags look like they contain fresh food. The bold and bright colour coded labels make them easy to spot on shelves. Best of all for the company, is that compared to other options, this would almost certainly have kept costs down.
Crunch
Unlike the usual Kettle Cooked chip varieties, these were thinner than usual, but this added to the crunchiness of the chip. Opening a fresh looking sealed silver bag and eating into a handful of crisp North Fork Chips is a very crunchy experience.
Texture
Ordinarily, Kettle cooked chips are thicker than other chips. This was not the case with North Fork's Cheddar Onion. Thinner and smaller than regular Kettle Chips, but still very crispy. Unfortunately, there were a few broken chips in the bag.
Taste
This flavour was originally marketed in the UK, as 'Cheese & Onion'. The varieties of cheese available to the modern US consumer means that the cheese needs an identity. The Cheddar is more subtle than the UK's most popular flavor, and the onion is noticeable as well. The aroma is outstanding.
