Verdict
Bag
Recently updated packaging has seen Deep River keep their traditional logo, while also retaining their star-burst color contrast and the graphic kettle and sliced potato. What they have changed is the main bag color - each different flavor has a bold and striking color packet which will stand out on the shelves. Blue works well for this particular flavor, although the darker the packet the more lost the flavor looks in black. Deep River Snacks have used their boiling Kettle of oil and potato graphic for some years now, it might be time for an update.

Crunch
These are relatively thick Kettle Cooked Chips, so for starters they will always provide a superior crunch to regular chips. They offer a thick, firm and snappy crunch which will not turn to mush. You will need to keep chewing - it sounds like a cacophony of sound in your mouth
Texture
A sturdy and well constructed Chip which had flecks of powdery residue fairly consistently covering the bag contents. The Chips were irregular in shape with some folded and bent at different angles, as a good Kettle Cooked Chip should be.

Taste
If we are to agree that a perfectly balanced flavor combo is one that provides an equal amount of each flavor combined to make a stunningly tasty Chip, we should perhaps examine why so many people expect a Salt & Vinegar Chip to taste of vinegar alone. At Chips and Crisps we believe a perfectly rounded Salt & Vinegar Chip should provide a zing of vinegar mixed with a good quality salt flavor. Neither should be understated, but the vinegar most certainly should not overpower the salt. So, while these are perfectly well balanced - a fairly equal bounce between flavors, there is no zing, tang or bang. A bit like a really good firework that whizzes up in the sky, makes a loud burst and then fizzles quickly. These Chips had a good balance, but were not strong enough.
